Welcome to slopscale
Slopscale is a fork of headscale, the self-hosted Tailscale control server, that runs one tailnet with an admin console, roles, approval and auditing.
Slopscale is a fork of headscale, the open source, self-hosted implementation of the Tailscale control server. It keeps headscale’s core and adds an admin console, features, speed and fixes.
This page contains the documentation for the latest version of slopscale. Please also check our FAQ.
What it does
- Runs a tailnet for the stock Tailscale clients: registration, MagicDNS, DNS, routes, DERP relays, Tailscale SSH, Serve, Funnel, Services, app connectors, tailnet lock and identity tokens.
- Signs users in through OpenID Connect, gives each a role, and puts an administrator between a new machine or user and the tailnet with approval.
- Controls access with a policy file, or without one through groups and access rules, networks, temporary access and node sharing, narrowed by device posture.
- Tells you what happened: an audit log, webhooks and notifications, log streaming to a SIEM, SSH session recording and a traffic monitor of what each machine sends through your gateways.
- Manages machines over the connection they already hold: updates, health, diagnostics and preferences.
- Speaks the Tailscale API, so the Terraform provider and the Kubernetes operator work unchanged, next to its own REST API and CLI.
The full list is on the Features page.
Design goal
Slopscale runs a single Tailscale network (tailnet) for a person, a lab or a small organisation, with everything an operator needs in one binary: the control server, the CLI and the admin console.
